Build-A-Bike Summer Camp is an exciting, week long camp for Wilmington area youth age 11-17 to enjoy outdoor adventures and develop new skills. Campers build their own bike from the frame up, which they keep at the end of camp. They also use bikes to explore their communities, participate in community service projects, and challenge themselves with activities like rock climbing and mountain biking.
SCHEDULE OF FIELD TRIPS
Each field trip includes a fun activity and a community service project. If you have questions about any of the activities, please email email@example.com.
Tuesday – Rock Climbing and landscaping at Alapocas Run State Park
Wednesday – Gardening and smoothie making at 12th and Brandywine Urban Farm
Thursday – Mountain biking and trail maintenance at Middle Run Recreation Area
Friday – Bicycle repair and end-of-camp family barbecue at Bellevue State Park
Please notice that the fees for camp this year have changed since last year. Camp now costs $125 per camper for the week.
If your child participates in our Youth Shop program on Wednesday nights, they may attend camp for only $10 for the whole week. Your child may choose to use their shop credit to pay for camp. You do not need to fill out the scholarship application if your child participates in our Youth Shop program.
We offer a “pay what you can” option for families who are unable to cover the $125 fee. You must fill out the scholarship application. If you do, you decide how much you can afford to pay for camp and include that amount with your registration forms. The minimum fee is $10. Please keep in mind that your child will receive a bicycle, lunch every day, dinner on Friday, and lots of enriching experiences. Urban Bike Project staff and volunteers work hard to make this opportunity available for all Wilmington area youth. Please pay what you feel is fair.
Use the links below to download registration forms. Fill out all forms (total 5 forms) and return with payment in person during Youth Shop (Wednesday nights, 5:00pm – 7:30pm at our shop) or by mail to:
