Not all heroes wear capes…or in this case lycra. At this year’s Monkey Hill Time Trial, join Urban Bike Project as we celebrate cycling’s grittiest riders – commuters! Participants in the Commuter Challenge Division will show the crowd what is possible by bicycle, completing the time trial course on fully loaded commuter bicycles. Make a donation to add weight to your favorite competitor’s bike and help them prove their grit to the crowd. Funds raised help Urban Bike Project spread the joy of bicycling to Wilmington youth and adults. Prizes will be awarded for fastest, most weight to cross the finish line, and most money raised.
The Monkey Hill Time Trial is part of the Wilmington Grand Prix, Wilmington’s premier cycling event. Amateur and professional racers compete against the clock on a challenging 3.2 mile course, culminating in a crazy challenging climb up the Monkey Hill cobblestones to the finish line. This free event is popular with spectators and features food trucks, beer tents, and live music at the finish line. Bring your cowbells and make some noise for racers as they tackle the hill!
Donate Today!
Select a competitor from the list below to donate to their fundraising page. The more money they raise, the more weight they’ll add! Choose your favorite competitor to help them win most weight or your least favorite competitor to make them feel the burn, whichever way you want to look at it. Either way, you’re supporting a great cause! Prizes are awarded for fastest, most weight across the finish line, and most money raised for Urban Bike Project.
Want to Participate in the Race?
There’s still slots available! Competitors commit to raising a minimum of $250 for Urban Bike Project. If you are interested in signing up, please email Laura Wilburn, Executive Director, at laura@urbanbikeproject.org.
